This month we’re going to talk about all things YouTube.
Last week, you’ve shared some tips to help you set up a YouTube account and do it right! This time, we will be discussing some of the most popular types of YouTube videos, with the hopes of inspiring you to diversify your content, keep up with the cool trends and rank up higher on the platform that is so loved by all of us!
#1-Vlogs
Vlogs give you a lot of creative freedom because essentially you can film anything you like, film the most epic moments from your day-to-day life and sprinkle them with your spicy commentary. With good and creative editing anything can be fun!
#2-Commentary
Are you opinionated and just HAVE TO share your views with like-minded people (and not only)? It’s simple - create commentary videos and offer your perspective on the topics that interest you the most.
#3-Product Review/ Unboxing/Hauls
Many consumers nowadays tend to trust the opinions of their fave creators more than ever! Product review, unboxing, and haul videos significantly influence people’s purchasing decisions. It is also a key way for many brands to spread the word about their new product and build customer loyalty - given it’s truly good, of course!
#4-Comedy Videos
Do you ever create funny scenarios in your head that go unnoticed? Well, why not share your sense of humor with the world and bring some more laughter into the world?
Pick up the camera, get your friends together, and start filming!
#5-Tutorials
You’re good at doing make-up? You REALLY can draw? Do you have an interesting exercise routine? Anything you can do well? Or maybe you have some secret tips on how to make certain things easier? Make a tutorial!
#6-Top Lists
Some of the most popular types of videos on YouTube are Top Lists. Some channels present an objective ranking (for example, present a list of thriller films with the highest rating on IMDb), and some YouTubers just like sharing their personal favorites.
#7-Challenges
Whether it is for a good cause or just for fun, a challenge is always trendy! YouTube loves challenges!
#8-Educational Videos
The Internet is saturated with all kinds of information! But since it takes a lot of reading and research, not everyone is willing to spend their time on that...they would much rather watch an educational video on YouTube that summarizes the key points of the subject of their interest or presents the topic in a fun and engaging way!
#9-Gaming
Gaming would be interesting particularly for live-streamers who love playing with others online, recording the process and their commentary, and then uploading the video on YouTube. People love watching others play!
#10-Q&A
Do you receive many comments on your YouTube channel? Just record a Q&A video! The audience can get really curious about their favorite creator. As long as you’re comfortable sharing more about yourself, Q&A videos can be a perfect addition to your content.
#11-Reactions
In reaction videos, YouTubers simply observe, watch and respond to something relevant to their audience. It can be a video that went viral, an accident, or a change of circumstances in the world or in the industry in particular. Essentially, you can react to ANYTHING.
#12-Interviews
You don’t need a celebrity for an interview (unless you have the opportunity to bring them on their channel - go for it.) It can be someone with expertise in a topic of interest among people you know. Hearing their perspective would be interesting to you and your audience, too!
Honorable mentions:
Some of the most popular types of videos on YouTube in 2021 are ASMRs and Mukbangs. ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) is a relaxing, often sedative sensation that begins on the scalp and moves down your spine. Some people receive immense pleasure from watching or listening to everyday habits, like whispering, or even eating!
Mukbangs feature a person eating a large quantity of food and addressing the audience at the same time - usually, it’s a live stream. Quite often, mukbangs are also ASMR videos. Aside from the need for a company some people have while having dinner, they also like enjoying the sounds and the visuals of people biting, chewing, or slurping on their food.
While these are certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, it is impossible to talk about YouTube these days without mentioning the two.
