If you've been circling the idea of becoming a live streamer or simply trying it out, this blog post came right on time. Livestreaming is making waves in the digital media realm for both artists and influencers. About 57% of businesses live stream to capture various audiences. While, in hindsight, it seems complicated, it's pretty simple! You can begin live streaming from the comfort of your home.
We have created a short step-by-step guide for beginners, but first, let's discuss the necessary tools.
Equipment - For most types of live streaming, all you need is just a phone with a camera. However, if you want to provide a quality live stream, make sure you purchase a phone tripod or a ring-light.
Internet connection - Make sure you have a high-speed internet connection.
Setting/Environment - Create an appealing background that shows off your personality. Adding some tapestries, string lights, and or pictures should do the trick. Also having a quiet area to stream will be helpful when engaging with your viewers.
Live streaming Apps - You can download BIGO Live, Likee, Mico, Uplive, LiveMe. These are some of the apps that we suggest to help you on your live streaming journey.
Now that we have the non-negotiables taken care of, let's talk steps.
#1 Choose the app you want to live stream on (The apps mentioned above are a great starting point). Each app has its own characteristics and intricacies that provide different opportunities for each type of live streamer.
#2 Networking is one of the key elements to be a successful streamer. Getting to know other hosts, what events are happening, and learning the apps overall environment will enable you to target a specific audience.
#3 Preparing content for your lives. Think of activities that you enjoy doing, (ex. Get Ready w/ me, sing a few song covers, cook, enhance your Yoga skills, come up with some choreography, etc).
#4 Interact with your audience. It might be a tad awkward at first, but eventually, some of your viewers will become your fans in the long run. Get to know them, ask questions, try to implement some of their interests into your live streams.
The steps above are basically what one should need to begin their journey as a live streamer, but bear in mind that this is only one side of live streaming. There are many other factors to account for, such as time and preparation, but nonetheless, live streaming is a great way to connect with others around the world. Also if you build a relationship with a live streaming agency, you can possibly obtain paid opportunities on certain live streaming platforms to showcase your talents and or host events.
